Spending a month in Shuzenji and volunteering at Hostel Knot
gave me many opportunities to explore different places
and learn more about Japanese culture.
I was able to meet and talk with local people in towns such as Atami, Ito, and Hakone,
while also enjoying fun activities and trips with the other two volunteers.
The atmosphere at Hostel Knot was always relaxed and welcoming, and I quickly felt comfortable both at the hostel and with the work we were doing.
If you’re looking for an opportunity to experience a quieter, more rural side of Japan while meeting new people and exploring the Izu area, I would definitely recommend spending some time in Shuzenji!
