The six weeks I spent in Shuzenji as a volunteer were
filled with so many wonderful memories.
It all started with the amazing food,
peaceful walks through the quiet streets and surrounding nature,
and relaxing afternoons sitting in Akagaeru Park and watching the ducks.
I also had the chance to explore different parts of the Izu Peninsula, visiting places like Atami, Ito, and Dogashima.
One of my personal highlights was the Kobo Dashi Dedication Fireworks Festival,
where I got to experience the festive atmosphere and beautiful fireworks while wearing a yukata for the first time.
But what stood out to me the most was how welcoming everyone was.
From the day I arrived, I was immediately made to feel included,
even though I could only speak a little Japanese.
In such a short time, I met so many wonderful people,
which made saying goodbye especially difficult.
A huge thank you to everyone who made
this experience so special.
