What began as an unplanned two-week stay at Hostel Knot turned into five months of volunteering. Through her daily life in Shuzenji and the connections she made with local people, Sofia gradually came to feel that she had found a place where she belonged. Discover her journey in Izu, told in her own words.

Leyla, from Basel, Switzerland, looks back on her month-long volunteer experience at Hostel Knot in the summer of 2026.
