After Sakura: Why April is the Best Time to Visit Izu
When doing nothing becomes the best way to travel
When people think of visiting Japan,
they often imagine cherry blossom season.
But what comes after sakura can be even more special—especially in Izu.

As the cherry blossom season ends,
the crowds fade away, and a quieter atmosphere returns.
You can walk along the river, listen to the sound of water,
and enjoy the simple beauty of everyday moments.
April is when Izu turns green.
Mountains, rivers, and bamboo forests
are covered in soft, fresh colors of spring.
In Shuzenji Onsen,
the bamboo grove becomes especially calm and beautiful during this time.

And then there’s the weather. Not too cold, not too hot—
just perfect for being outside.
You walk a little slower,
pause a little longer, and naturally start to enjoy the moment.
This is a different kind of spring in Japan.
Quiet, gentle, and deeply relaxing.
And in Izu, it’s waiting just after sakura.
