Minami no Sakura & Nanohana Festival
An Early Spring Bloom in Minami Izu
Held every February in Minami Izu Town, at the southern tip of the Izu Peninsula, the Minami no Sakura & Nanohana Festival is a beloved spring festival in Izu that lets visitors experience the season earlier than anywhere else.
Along the Aono River, around 800 Kawazu cherry trees bloom in vibrant shades of pink, creating a beautiful riverside walk perfect for enjoying cherry blossoms at a relaxed pace.

Nearby, a vast field of bright yellow rapeseed flowers (nanohana) spreads across the landscape. The contrast between pink cherry blossoms and yellow flowers creates one of Minami Izu’s most iconic spring views.
In the evening, cherry trees are illuminated between Maehara Bridge and Kujo Bridge, offering a magical night-time cherry blossom experience. During the festival, visitors can also enjoy seasonal events such as rickshaw rides, a nanohana maze, and complimentary lobster miso soup (limited availability).

Surrounded by nature and filled with seasonal color, the Minami no Sakura & Nanohana Festival is a must-see spring event in Izu, perfect for travelers looking to enjoy Kawazu cherry blossoms and early spring scenery.
